If there was one thing on the planet that Viola hated more than listening to her dad debating the finer points of Shakespeare, it was school shopping. Normally Viola loved shopping. She could spend hours and enough money to blow up the economy of a small country in a few hours at a mall, but shopping for school things meant school was coming. For Viola the only good thing about school was getting to hang out with her friends again. She didn't like shopping for books, expecially because it meant she had to go out with her family. Her mum was okay but her dad was a bit of a nut, and Duncan and Ophelia were loud and it was just embarrassing in general. However it was a necessary evil.
Viola had already gotten her new robes fitted and everything and was now in the book shop. She had a nice long list of books she was going to need for the year. She walked around with her list, her mum had taken the other two over to the children's section of the store to keep them occupied so Viola was on her own with getting all the books. At first she thought it would be a good thing, then she found out where her first book was. It was her transfiguration book and it was about half a shelf above her reach. She sighed and tucked the list in the pocket of her skirt and got up on her toes, reaching for the book she almost had it, it was just... out... of... reach...

Finally, Francis was alone. The whole rest of the day, he had been stuck with his family- his nagging parents, his irritating younger brother, and his girly twin sister. He loved them all dearly, but they truly did get on his nerves at times. School shopping was always a pain, especially since they had to get two of everything. It made everything take so much longer. Luckily for him, his younger brother had demanded ice cream on their way to the bookstore. His sister had wanted to go with, but he asked to go ahead and buy his books. He wasn't in the mood for ice cream, and it was a chance to escape his family. His father went along with him to Flourish and Blotts, but he went off to look at some boring adult novels, so Franc was left to his own devices.
He had already dumped two copies of each of three books into the big bag that the store had given him, and it was getting pretty heavy. Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts...why did each book have to weigh ten pounds? He loved to read, but honestly, the readings for his classes tended to get dull. Especially History of Magic. That he was going to get last, though, because it was guaranteed that it would be the heaviest book. Next up was Transfiguration. He looked down the aisle, and there was a girl, reaching out for a book high on the shelf...
Francis hardly knew what happened. It felt like one second he was looking down the aisle, and the next, he was grabbing the book inches from the girl's fingertips and pressing it into her hands. It hadn't been that far of a distance to move, but it had been a mechanical motion, something ingrained into his being. His father's lessons in chivalry had really stuck with him, whether he knew it or not.
After he had given the book to her, he glanced at what it was she had been reaching for. It sounded familiar...he looked back down at his list, and sure enough, it was the Transfigurations book he and Melisande needed. "So, you're a second year too?" he asked, as he pulled two more copies of the book off of the shelf and dropped them into his bag.

Viola looked around, keeping her eyes open for employees. She put a booted foot up on the shelf to boost herself up. She wasn't really prepared for a round of book shelf scaling. She was wearing boots that were about a size too big. They hadn't had her size in the store but they were just to perfect to pass up. She was just about to reach it when someone else grabbed it and handed it to her. she stumbled slightly, out of surprise, but grabbed the closets shelf to keep her from falling. She quickly regained her composure and gathered her bearings.
"Yeah Can't wait for it to be over though. Something about being in the younger grades makes anyone over the age of thirteen think they could tell you what to do." she rolled her eyes. She shrugged. "But I guess you would know that since you're a second year too..." She said thoughfully. She assumed anyway because of the question. She looked at the book then back up as he took two copies. "A sibling? Or do you just like keeping back up books?" she asked jokingly as she held the book to her chest looking him up and down.
He was cute, blonde hair, and blue-ish eyes. The opposite of Viola's dark features. She always wondered what it would be like to have fairer features. She knew her family, both sides, was mostly dark haired with the occasional blonde tossed in at random. She just happened to be one of the darker colored ones. That's not to say she didn't like the way she looked, Viola was decently vain for someone her age. She loved her long silky hair and her smooth year round tan. She had friends that would kill for her colorings and she loved that.
She smiled at the boy after she realized she hadn't said thank you. "And thanks, having an avalanche of books rain over me doesn't sound terribly fun." She shrugged. He was french too. She could hear it in his accent. She always wanted an accent, something exotic like French or italian, nope she just had the same english drawl as a lot of others, but hers did have a bit of muddlement about it because she went on a lot of vacations and her accent changed after a while then would slowly change back and at the moment it was somewhere between Scottish and English.
