Overall Personality: Sumalee gets interested in many things, but she finds it hard to keep her interest. One minute she'll rave about how amazing something is, and the next, she'll hardly even acknowledge its existence. It's hard for her to hold her attention, and it may seem at times that she has a short attention span, but it's just her impatience and inattentiveness that keeps many things from holding her attention. It's quite obvious when she loses interest, as she does not trouble to hide it.

Sumalee is a very intelligent girl. Because she gains and loses interest in things very quickly, she's always open to new experiences. She has always loved seeing new places and trying new things, and she's always very aware of the world around her. She doesn't like to commit to one thing, and she has a knack for slipping herself out of situations that she no longer desires to be in.

General History: Sumalee never met her biological parents. Her mother was barely fourteen when she gave birth to her, on the brink of death in St. Mungo's, and no one knows who her father was. She was lucky enough to be born in the presence of one Brianna Granger-Monroe, who had been longing for a child but whose partner, Maddie Kerwin, did not feel ready for a child. Despite her love's wishes, Brianna couldn't allow Sumalee to go into foster care and live her life an orphan from birth, so she adopted her that very night and brought her home, an unpleasant shock for Maddie.

Maddie did not feel ready to have a child. She was greatly disturbed by the child brought into their household without her permission. She felt that she had to let her stay, though, and after a little while the child grew on her. Brianna, on the other hand, loved Sumalee from the start. She adored her and showered her with affection at every second that she could between her long work shifts, proudly displaying her and pictures of her to everyone possible. She announced Sumalee as her own daughter, never mentioning the adoption despite the fact that her daughter was clearly of Asian descent, which neither Brianna nor Maddie held a glimpse of.


Sumalee knew she was different from her mothers. She knew that with two mothers, she was different from other families. She even noticed that she held a seperate, secret place in society from much of London- to Brianna and Maddie's great pride, she showed clear signs that she was a witch at a young age. She got used to being different, though. Sumalee found she didn't want to fit into any category. She didn't want to be judged or labeled. The only group she wanted to be identified with was that of her family. She knew she'd never look like either of her mothers, and that they'd always be a bit of a motley crew, but in highlighting her hair she felt that she could reach an appearance closer to that of her mothers.


At age eleven, Sumalee was accepted to Hogwarts. Though it had been expected, it still thrilled her mothers. Sumalee couldn't help but be a little proud of herself too, even though it meant she was being categorized as a witch. She had learned to accept her magical side not as a category, but as an opportunity for learning and exploration that she wouldn't have if she were a Muggle.
